How likely is a civil war?

Depending on the election. I see two extreme opposites between McCain and Obama supporters and it made me think about how divided our country really is in terms of beliefs and political standpoints. Do you think that after the election those whose candidate was not elected would start to act out against each other? I mean I have friends whose parents have (quite seriously) threatened to disown them if they voted for a certain candidate.
