San Francisco vacation for a young couple from NYC.?

Well wine country is north of SF. Several hours actually if you drive. There are buses that go up there and I don't think you need to stay in a tour group but the easiest way would be to rent a car for it. Don't forget to stop at Golden Gate park, the botanical gardens, Beaches on both the bay side and the ocean side, the fort under golden gate bridge, alcatraz, the zoo and aquarium, the museum, china town, maybe go see a giant's game, the embarcadero, ghiradelli factory, pier 39. Sea lions live by pier 39 and here's an interesting fact, they're counted as Frisco citizens!
